The Abomination!

So...in response to this defeat I decided to make a more aggressive Abomination. I grabbed a ball point pen, a sheet of cartridge paper and just went for it. Thereafter I scanned the image in to Adobe Photoshop and added colour. For those who have watched the movie you will noticed that I changed his look. I decided to go for his original comic debut colour scheme and then added a few of my own twists.

'The Boxer'

My computer speakers played 'The Boxer' by the Chemical Brothers as I began this particular piece. As with the last few digital pieces I have done, this one began its life as a sketch. The sketch was drawn using black, red and blue Bic click pens in an attempt to find a new dynamic way of drawing. To a degree I believe I was successful.

The scanned sketch was subject to colouring, cutting and a few contrast changes. I wanted to achieve a sense of power and awe eminating from the character. I am as of now fond of boxing as subject matter and intend to find a couple of good photographic referances to work with in the near future.

Selected works
This is a selection of works I have completed over the last few years. Probably from about the end of 2005. I felt that it would provide some insight into what skills I have and what subject matter I prefer.

Angels and honesty
Today I produced a new digital painting of an Angel. It took me about roughly three hours to complete. I know I should be working on them for longer, but I can always go back to them at a later stage. As with my last digital piece, I scanned in a drawing I had done in pencil and then proceded to colour and manipulate the image in Photoshop.

This is the 'Completed' Piece. Im still figuring out whether or not the 'Haze' adds to the angelic-ness of the piece or detracts from the piece in general. I will most likely try a few more effects on this piece in the near future...

Step in the Right direction.

I have always been blown away by digital Video game character art, comics etc. and had always wondered how they did it and how I could achieve that level in my own work.
Well I am finally uncovering the mystery and feel like Im taking a step in the right direction.
The image I have produced is entitled
'Queen of Peace'. It depicts a young girl whom is dressed in '
Gothic Lolita'-esc attire and is making a 'Peace- sign' gesture.
The image began its life as a sketch, which was scanned into Photoshop and thereafter digitally manipulated. I personally find it the easiest and most satisfying way to go about it.
I worked at 300 DPI on an A3 canvas as I thought it made the most sense in terms of good print quality. I mostly used the brush tool on a low opacitity, building up form layer by layer.
This is 'Queen of Peace' (below) as of this moment. It took me roughly two and half hours to reach this point.
